Career Potential
The certificate in Human Resource Management is designed to provide knowledge and skills related to a career in the field of human resource management. In addition, it will assist in updating the knowledge and skills of human resource professionals. As a student pursuing a certification in Human Resource Management, you will take courses in such areas as organizational behavior, recruitment, selection and placement, labor relations, compensation, and leadership.
Proposed Courses
Select 12 hours from the following:
- MGMT 5120 Managing Organizational Design and Change
- MGMT 5140 Organizational Behavior and Analysis
- MGMT 5210 Human Resource Management Seminar
- MGMT 5260 Employment, Placement and Personnel Planning
- MGMT 5350 Seminar in Labor Relations
- MGMT 5710 Management Strategies for Public Issues
- MGMT 5890 Seminar in Compensation and Motivation Theory
Upon completion of the 12 hours, students should consult the Graduate Academic Certificate Advisor of the Management Department. The departmental advisor will fill out the verification of completion form. This document will be forwarded to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies.
More Information
- The College of Business Administration is fully accredited by the AACSB.
- Certification courses will apply to a degree once you gain full admission to the MBA/MS program. In addition, students entering the MBA/MS program who do not have an undergraduate degree in business administration may be required to take background courses before entering the program.
- Courses completed while admitted to the MBA/MS program or under the graduate non-degree option will not be applied unless a student has already been admitted to the certificate program.
Admission Procedures
U.S. citizens/permanent residents submit application, application fee, and official transcripts to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies.
The admission requirements for a Master's level Certificate Program differ from a MBA or MS Degree. GMAT or GRE scores, letters of reference, an essay and resume are NOT required to apply for this certificate program.
International applicants submit above materials to the International Admission Office. In addition, a financial statement and TOEFL scores must be submitted. Applicants with an undergraduate degree from a U.S. college/university or having successfully completed an intensive English program may be exempted from the TOEFL.
Graduate admissions and the College of Business Administration (COBA) process applications. COBA notifies applicants about their admission status.
Students who wish to enter the MBA program will be required to take the GMAT and meet COBA entrance requirements before proceeding with courses beyond those needed for the certificate program.
