How does the UNT evaluate applications?

The admissions committee will review your entire application. First, we look to determine that you have the academic ability to handle challenging, graduate-level academic work. In addition to your undergraduate transcript and your GMAT scores, we look for a history of setting and achieving challenging goals in every aspect of your life.

Do I need to send all the materials together as one package?

No. While the application will not be reviewed for admission until all of the materials are received, you can begin sending application materials as they are completed.

Prior business study is not required for the MBA programs. You will need to have your transcripts evaluated and may be assessed with up to 16.5 hours of background courses.

We seek to bring together highly motivated and academically talented students from a broad range of backgrounds. Admission is competitive and seeks excellence. Candidates should be proactive individuals who can contribute in a highly interactive, team-based learning environment and who have meaningful life and professional experiences upon which to draw. Most of all, we are seeking focused, motivated students who are dedicated to success.

Why is a resume requested?

We ask that you list your past jobs on the application, but the resume gives you the opportunity to communicate the nature of the positions and your major professional accomplishment.

GMAT/GRE

Where can I get more information about the GMAT?

You can learn more about GMAT, view sample test questions, and register for the test at www.mba.com.

Is there a minimum score requirement on the GMAT or GRE?

There is no longer a minimum score requirement. There is no single GMAT requirement that will guarantee admission. The GMAT range of admitted students is broad, typically from 470-520. Two candidates with the same GMAT score might have different admission outcomes because of their past academic record, work experience, performance in the interview, etc.

Is the GMAT required for admission?

Yes. While it is only one part of the application, it is required before an admission decision can be made.

If I take the GMAT more than once, which scores do you consider?

We take your highest score.

If I already have an advanced degree, will the GMAT be required?

Yes. The GMAT assesses different skills than the GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.

I took the GRE already. Do I have to take the GMAT as well?

No, if you already have GRE scores and meet the appropriate requirements, you may use those scores for admission into the program. This option is available only for those applicants who took the GRE prior to submitting an application. If you have not taken either test, you must take the GMAT.

I haven't taken the GMAT but want to take classes. What can I do?

The Toulouse School of Graduate Studies admits students on a graduate non-degree (GNDE) basis. This option is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who meet minimum GPA requirements. The GNDE classification allows you to take up to twelve hours of 5XXX level courses before being officially admitted to a graduate program. Once you have taken the GMAT and meet the entrance standards, you may change your major from GNDE to the appropriate professional concentration. Contact a College of Business Graduate Academic Advisor in BA 229 for further information.

What is Graduate Non-Degree Seeking (GNDE)?

All of our programs require a GMAT in order to be accepted into a program, but U.S. citizens or permanent residents can begin early in the Graduate non-degree status and take up to 12 hours without the GMAT. Please note that this kind of enrollment does not allow for financial aid and is only offered to permanent residents. * All GNDE students must come in for an advising session prior to registering in their first semester.
